Bored of Mrs Loveit, serial seducer Mr Dorimant is planning another conquest. Will he ever reform? Will Sir Fopling Flutter steal his show? Or will Mrs Loveit have her revenge?
Celebrated for its sparkling dialogue, spirited heroines, outlandish fashions, and sophisticated deceptions, The Man of Mode raises questions concerning manners, morals, and the charm of dramatic illusion.
We’ll explore the play with reference to historical contexts, other plays, and libertine poetry.
Enrolment Details
Courses are open to all. New participants are welcome.
Classes run on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 10:00 to 12:00 in The Shaw Room.
Course fees are £125 (inclusive of photocopying costs). Term will start on September 24th and 25th. We will break for half-term week on October 29th and 30th, resume on November the 5th and 6th and end on December the 3rd and 4th.
Contextual resources will be provided as photocopies.
